Working with Astra Light Photography is meant to feel easy, comfortable, and inspiring. From the moment you reach out, I focus on getting to know you and your vision so the session feels personal and effortless. Every detail, from choosing the right location to finding the best light, is guided by what will make you feel at ease in front of the camera.
During your session, I keep the atmosphere relaxed and natural. I’ll guide you when needed, but I also give space for candid moments to unfold. The best images often come from genuine laughter, quiet pauses, and the little in-between moments that tell the truest story.
After your session, I carefully select and edit your images with both artistry and intention. My editing style is cinematic yet timeless, designed to preserve the emotion and atmosphere of each moment without ever feeling overdone. The final collection you receive will feel like a complete story, one you can return to for years to come.

Booking & Policies
How do I book a session?
You can book your session directly through my website here: Services & Bookings if you’re ready to secure a date, or you’re always welcome to reach out first if you’d like to chat, ask questions, or customize your package. Either way, I’ll guide you through the next steps and make sure everything is set for your session.
All bookings are subject to review and approval.
This ensures that I can confirm availability, location details, and that the session is a good fit before finalizing. If for any reason a booking cannot be accepted, I will reach out promptly with alternative options.
Do you require a deposit or full payment?
To officially reserve your session, payment is required in full at the time of booking. This ensures your date is secured and allows me to fully prepare for your shoot with care and attention.
For added flexibility, I do offer a 2-payment plan upon request:
First payment: 50% at booking (non-refundable, secures your date)
Second payment: Remaining 50% due at least 48 hours before your session
Please note: if booking less than 1 week in advance, the full payment is required upfront.
How far in advance should I book?
I recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance to ensure availability, especially during weekends or busy seasons. If you need a session sooner, reach out and I’ll do my best to fit you in.
What happens if it rains or I need to reschedule?
We can reschedule for another available date. I’ll always work with you to make sure your session happens in the best possible conditions.
Are travel expenses included in your packages?
Sessions include travel within 25 miles of San Diego. If you’d like to book a location a little (or a lot!) farther out, I’m happy to make the trip! However, a small travel fee may apply, and we’ll go over that together during booking.
Do you travel outside San Diego?
Yes! I love exploring new places with my camera. If your session is outside of San Diego, travel or lodging fees may apply depending on the location, and I’ll go over all the details with you beforehand.
The Session
This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
No need to stress — I’ll guide you every step of the way. My sessions are easygoing and natural, with just a little direction when it helps. You don’t have to know how to pose; I’ll make sure you feel comfortable so your photos truly capture who you are!
What if I’m not comfortable in front of the camera?
Feeling a little nervous in front of the camera is so common, and totally okay. I keep sessions laid-back and fun, giving gentle guidance so you feel comfortable. Most people are surprised by how much they actually enjoy the experience once we get going!
What should I wear?
The best thing you can wear is something that feels comfortable and true to you. Soft, neutral tones and subtle patterns often photograph beautifully, and colors that flatter your skin tone and surroundings will help everything flow naturally. For couples or families, think about choosing outfits that complement each other without matching exactly — it keeps things cohesive but still personal. If you’d like extra support, I’m always happy to share outfit ideas, inspiration boards, or color palettes to make the process easier.
Can I bring props or personal items?
Of course! Feel free to bring along anything that’s meaningful to you — whether that’s a favorite book, a guitar, a cozy blanket, or even your pet. Personal touches make your photos feel more like you and add a unique layer of personality to your session.
Do you recommend any locations?
Yes! San Diego has so many wonderful backdrops — from stunning beaches and scenic parks to unique city spots. If you’d prefer something indoors, we can also book a beautiful studio so your session feels cozy, private, or styled just the way you want. I’ll suggest locations that match the mood and story you’re going for, or we can choose a place that already means something special to you.

Both! Outdoor sessions are wonderful for soaking up natural light and beautiful scenery, while indoor or studio sessions offer a more cozy, private, or styled vibe. It really depends on the mood you’d like to create — we can find the perfect setting together.
Can I bring family or friends along?
Absolutely! If having a friend or loved one there helps you feel more comfortable, they’re more than welcome to join us. For family sessions, we’ll plan everything around your group size so everyone is included and the experience feels easy and enjoyable.
Editing & Delivery
How many images will I receive?
The number of edited images depends on the package you choose, and every session comes with a beautifully curated online gallery where you can download your favorites in high resolution. If you’d like more than what’s included, additional images can always be requested and purchased so you don’t miss out on any special moments.
How long will it take to get my photos?
I know how exciting it is to see your photos, and I work hard to deliver them as quickly as possible. Most galleries are ready within about 2–4 weeks, depending on the season and the type of session.
Each gallery is carefully edited to make sure every image looks its best, so the timing is all about quality as well as speed.
If you need your photos sooner — for a special event, gift, or deadline — I do offer a rush delivery option as an add-on, so you’ll have them in your hands even faster.
Do you edit all the images?
Yes! Every photo you receive is thoughtfully edited in the Astra Light style — bright, natural, and true to the moment. Light retouching is always included to make sure you look and feel your best, and if you’d like extra edits or adjustments, we can chat about those too.
How do you deliver the photos?
You’ll receive your very own private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images with ease. From there, you can also order beautiful prints, wall art, or albums directly, making it simple to bring your photos off the screen and into your hands. Everything is designed to be easy, seamless, and enjoyable.
Will I get the unedited/RAW files?
I don’t provide unedited or RAW files, since a big part of my artistry is in the editing process that gives your images their final look and feel. Each photo you receive is carefully finished in my style, so you can feel confident that what you’re getting is polished, intentional, and ready to be enjoyed.

Do you offer gift cards or certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates are available and make such a thoughtful way to give the gift of memories. They’re perfect for family sessions, portraits, or special occasions — a meaningful present that lasts far beyond the moment.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Yes! From time to time I offer seasonal or themed mini sessions — they’re short, fun, and a great way to capture fresh memories. The best way to hear about upcoming dates is to follow along on social media or join my email list, where I share all the details first.
Do you offer video?
Right now, I focus on photography only, but if you’d like video coverage too, I’d be happy to connect you with trusted videographers I recommend.
